Help Make Ambler a Shade Better

Ambler residents are eligible to request a shade tree for your yard this spring.

3 Steps to receive a spring 2017 tree:

2. Download the ‘Sign Up For A Tree’ form
3. Return the form with a check by Wednesday February 8

Trees to choose from:

Small (under 30’) Best for under power lines

  • Acer griseum (Paperbark maple) view
  • Malus ‘Adirondack’ (White-flowering Crabapple) view
  • Amelanchier x grandifolia ‘Princess Diana’ (Princess Diana Downy Serviceberry)** view

Medium (30 to 50’ – possibly taller under ideal conditions)

  • Acer rubrum ‘Redpointe’ (Redpointe Red Maple) view
  • Cladrastis kentukea (Yellowwood)** view
  • Gleditsia t.i. ‘Imperial’ (Imperial Honeylocust)** view
  • Ostrya virginiana (Hophornbeam)**## view

Large (over 50’)

  • Catalpa speciosa (Northern Catalpa)** view
  • Liriodendron tulipifera (Tuliptree)**## view
  • Quercus bicolor (Swamp White Oak)** (very limited number) view
  • Ulmus x ‘Accolade’ (Accolade Smoothleaf Elm) view

Additional Information:
  • Trees are $45 for the first tree and $80 for any additional trees ($300 value)
  • Trees arrive 10-15 feet tall
  • Trees need 10-15 gallons of water a week (for 2 years) when there is no rain
