Current Projects

Below is a list of current projects. Please see the
accomplishments link to learn about past projects that Ambler EAC has  completed.

Annual and Ongoing Initiatives:
  • Publish several article in the “Environmental Corner” of the biannual Home Town News, Ambler’s municipal newsletter

  • Coordinate Ambler’s April Stream Clean-Up, with about 20 volunteers

  • Publicize household hazardous waste recycling center collection dates

  • Attend Council and Planning Commission meetings; consult and advise when appropriate

  • Staff environmental information booths at community events, such as, Oktoberfest

CURRENT PROJECTS:

WATER CONSERVATION: Reducing home water use.


PROTECTING OUR STREAMS & WATERSHED

  • Installing 100 Rain Gardens in Ambler, new ones each Spring and Fall; provide financial support and technical consulting to homeowners VIEW VIDEO

  • Annual April Stream Clean-Up event – in conjunction with Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association

  • Rose Valley Creek riparian maintenance buffer restoration

  • Advising revisions to Borough ordinances

TREE PLANTING

  • The Ambler EAC developed a Downtown Tree Management Policy…

  • Supporting proper tree mulching and widening of street tree pits

PROMOTING RECYCLING IN AMBLER

  • Acquiring recycling containers for parks and streets in primary retail corridors
